Algoza:
Algoza is a very popular musical instrument ofPunjab. Algoza is also known as ‘Jori’ and ‘Ngoza’. It is a very traditional and melodious musical instrument which is adopted by Sindhi community ofPunjab. It is a pair of two wooden made flutes. A player of this musical instrument plays it with using of his three fingers to both side flutes. Each of the flutes has some holes. Player of Algoza breathes into this musical instrument to generate melodious sound. Player control rhythm and musical sound with his breathing and his fingers.
Punjabi folk singer uses this musical instrument as a traditional and folk instrument. It is a beautiful part of various Punjabi folk songs such as Mirza, Jugani and Jind Mahi. During Bhangra dance or music Punjabi people also use this musical instrument. Algoza is not only a beautiful part of Punjabi music but also much famous in Rajasthan. In Rajasthan this is popular as melodious folk musical instrument. Various Rajasthani songs are based on this musical instrument.
