Bhavai folk dance of Rajasthan is the one of the famous dances among this state’s folk culture and tradition. During the performance of this Bhavai dance women and girls moves or dances with making balance of seven pots on their heads.

We can say it is a nail biting folk dance of this state because it needs a great balance art among the dancers. This is the famous folk dance among the various tribes of Rajasthan like Bhil, Chamar, Jat and Raigor.

Especially Kalbeliai Chamar adopted this dance culture. And those people are the one of the major performer of this dance culture.

During this dance performance women hold seven to eleven earthen urns on their heads and make a tremendous balance. It is very famous in the desert area of Rajasthan because it need so much practice of balancing and in the desert area of Rajasthan women hold lots of pots of water on their heads. During the performance of this dance there plays background music and womenfolk moves with the rhythm of the music. Especially in the season of Navratra in Rajasthan we can see the performance of this folk dance.

Bhavai dance performance needs some especial musical instruments to make this dance some unique like sarangi, pakhwaja, dholak, harmonium and jhanjhar. During the dance performance of bhavai folk dance we can watch the flexibility of dancer. There is a famous bhavai folk dancer of district Rajsamand named Dayaram ji who performed on various dance programs in throughout India.
