Bhorrindo Folk Instrument of Katchchh

Bhorrindo is a very popular folk musical instrument in Kachchh of Gujarat. It is just known as this name of Bhorrindo but it is most famous as the name of Borendo or Borrindo in other parts of Sindh region. Bhorrindo is an ancient musical instrument of Gujarat. It is uses as a folk rhythmic musical instrument to perform various folk cultures of this sate and it has been continued from oldest time period of gujarat. It is very simple musical instrument like hollow clay ball. Bhorrindo instrument has at least three to four holes and one of them is bigger than others. The entire holes arranged as the form of isosceles triangular.

The player of Bhorrindo instrument plays it by blowing air to the big hole and regulate all the notes of rhythm through other small holes by pressurizing the fingers on them. It is the musical instrument which is most known and most usable in region of Kuchchh of Gujarat. It is played by mostly youth or children of this region for their entertainment. It is now also become a beautiful part of folk music of Gujarat.

Bhorrindo is also popular on various occasion or festivals in Kutchchh to perform folk dances and folk songs during the celebration of various festivals. It is very nice, charming and most delightful musical instrument among youth of Gujarat.
