Bihar Folk Instruments

Bihar is a one of the best ritualistic land of India. It is the state which is depends on farming through out all tribal areas. The people from various tribes and communities are the follower of their ritual thoughts and activities. For these purpose tribes of Bihar organizes their religious and ritual activities with fairs or festivals or occasions. The main part of these festivals and ritual occasions are folk music and folk dances of the tribes of Bihar.

Folk culture of this state is the major part for communities to celebrate their joy and happy moments. Bhajaniya, Roshan, Chouki, Pamaria, Kir­taniya and Bhakliya are delightful and pleasant cluster songs in Bihar. Jat jatin dance, kajari dance, holi dance, jhumari dance and harvesting dance of Bihar also the major dances of this ritual culture of Bihar. These folk music and dances plays with the various folk instruments like dholak, drums, Jhal manjeeras, Tabla etc.

These folk instruments are the major part of those folk traditions of this state. Without those instruments we can not imagine the folk dances and folk music of Bihar.

It is the life of this folk culture of Bihar. Bihar has an affluent traditional heritage of this country India. The chief themes are related from the mythology of Hinduism. The Hindu divinities; Lord Rama and Seeta, Lord Shiva and Parvati, are the main subject of folk art of paintings. Bihar is a land of many Buddhist followers is also known as ‘The Land of Buddha’ and famous in all around the country. They all are the major parts of this folk culture of Bihar and this culture based on folk musical instruments.
