Bihu songs of Assam

Assam is the Land of Brahmaputra River and known for its gardens of tea production in all around the world. It is the land of beauty and communities. There are traditions of folk dances and folk music which are the part of the unique culture of the State. It is also a land of fairs and religious festivals. Bihu festival is the world famous occasion of the state. The word Bihu means the Vishnu in Sanskrit language.

Bihu festival is the festival which known as the new year celebration and a celebration of new agriculture season. There are three major Bihu festivals which represents the celebration of various natural seasons in a year.

Magh bihu organizes in the time of January time, Bihag bihu festival celebrated in the month of Arial while Kati bihu festival comes in the month of October. All of these tree festivals comes in the season of winter, spring and autumn subsequently but represents of batter cultivation and batter harvesting. During the time of all above type of bihu festivals there are bihu songs sung by the people for worshipping the Lord.

Bihu songs sung with the folk dance on the rhythm of musical instruments like dhol and flute etc. These song sung by the expertise singers belongs to harvesting jobs. Bihu songs are the most popular folk songs which listen throughout the India.
