Bodo’s Bagurumba is one of the most famous and charming dance form of the folk culture and tradition of Assam state of India. It is the folk dance which is also known as the name of Bardwisikhla folk dance of the state. It is the dance which performed by the chorus of girls who dressed out themselves by colorful customs of Aronai, Dokhana and Jwamgra. It is a folk dance which has a type of formation which performed by the girls with the movement of slow steps.
Bodo’s Bagurumba folk dance performed with the magical musical instrument of the state that called as the name of Bodo. This is the dance which is most popular in the inhabited area of Nalbari, Darrang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar and Sonitpur districts of Assam. This is the unique type of folk dance of Assam which performed by a mysterious tribe of this state known as Bodo community. They performed this dance performance during an especial festival of Bwishagu festival of this community during the month of April.
This festival is begun with the praying of cows and youth people of the community bow dawn to their older members of their family. They prayed their deity named Bathou. They offered the pieces of chicken and a sweet form of beer rice. This bodo dance also accompanied by some of other tremendous musical instruments like Tharkha, Serja and Sifung. This is the best popular and well known form of folk dance of Assam which also followed by the community through out corners of Assam. This festivity occasion of this Bodo tribe got end with the community song called Garjasali by singing of the people.
