Burra katha is a very ancient folk dance of Andhra Pradesh. It is a dance which consist ballad a narrative poem or song of a specific origin. It is a one of very famous or popular folk dance which has its own exceptional style of presentation. The name of this folk dance Burra katha is derived from the name of an instrument ‘Burra’ of this dance used during the presentation.

It is a so artistic or practical folk dance of Andhra Pradesh which is based on a dramatic play. In this dancing drama player of this dance recount religious poem and play different instruments like drums and Burra with chorus. This folk dance consist three people for narration and playing instrument to create a magical drama. They all dressed with colorful cloths. During the drama one of them sang the poem with narration and explanation and other two person plays with instrument for music and rhythm.

Burra katha is a way to share or distribute a unique massage to people with a drama and full of joy. It is the folk dance which has a competent roll on the occasion of various festivals like Dussehara and Sakranti. On those festivals this folk dance plays a major role to introduce our great spiritual epic like Mahabharata and Ramayana.

Burrakatha is a not only a folk dance but it is also related to the holy feelings of people to know about our religious Hero like Ram and Krishna. It is another way to understand our custom and culture. It is famous in miscellaneous parts of Andhra Pradesh.
