Andhra Pradesh is a land of folk dances and diversified cultures and those make this state something matchless. Butta bommalu is a very popular and well known folk dance of Andhra Pradesh. It became most famous in the district Tanuku of Andhra Pradesh a name derived from the name of a mischievous sprite Tarkasena.
The folk dance Butta bommalu basically origin of a district of Andhra Pradesh named Godavari which is famous for migratory birds. Here a stream Godavari flows which give it a life.
Butta bommalu is a name of a foster child born in the district of Andhra Pradesh. Butta bommalu can be described as a puppet in the form of a basket. During this dance performance dancer gets a basket figure and begin moving with the music and tempo of dappus which is an instrument.
This dance needs performed in a bamboo strips which have very light figures so it make so simple for dancer to move those figures. This bamboo strips festooned with various colorful elements.
