Famous Choliya War Dance of Uttarakhand:
Choliya is a much known folk dance of Uttaranchal. Choliya Dance is a famous part of culture and tradition of Uttaranchal. Choliya Dance is a very ancient folk dance, may be more than 1000 years old. Choliya Dance was become famous in Khasiya kingdom of Uttaranchal in ancient time. Actually this is a Rajputana folk dance which performs on various marriage occasion in this tribe of Rajputs. Choliya Dance is a battle folk dance in which dancer moves as like soldiers with their weapons. Rajputs dances with moving of swords and shields in their hands. They perform their dancing talent on a beautiful rhythm of drums. Drummers who known as dholi are play their art according to requirement of dancing steps.
Choliya Dance s is a very charming group dance in which almost 22 members participate for dance presentation. Among 14 member plays role of musician and remaining eight members plays a role of dancers. All dancers are clothing with colorful beautiful dresses as like soldiers. They wear long paijama, kurta and cross belts. They also wear rings in their ears. They held shields and swords in their hands. Choliya Dance is very good war dance. This dance is start with slow music of drums and reaches to its top range with enhancing level of tunes.
