Dhankara Dance of Punjab:

Dhankara dance is a magical folk dance ofPunjab. This folk dance is very famous among Sikh community. Dhankara folk dance also called as Gatka folk dance ofPunjab. This is a male folk dance. To play Dhankara dance minimum two dancers can participate, there is no limit of maximum number of dancers. Generally two dancers dance around each other. They dance with holding staffs in their hands. They swings staffs in air with dancing steps.

In Dhankara dance there are few steps but all of steps have a charm and magic to attract any viewer. Dhankara folk dance also known as Martial art of Nihal Singh. Dancers wear colorful adornments to participate in these dancers. Normally it is a folk dance which can see during marriage celebration in villages. This folk dance arrange on wedding place or on open ground. Women can also participate in this folk dance, but they can not perform separately. They have to perform in chorus of dancers.
