Dhepa Dhuliya Dance of Orissa:

Dhepa dhuliya dance is another very exquisite dance of Orissa. Dhepa dhuliya dance is based on a musical instrument of tribal people in Orissa. The musical instrument is a kind of drum named ‘Dhepadhol’. Dhepadhol is a 1.5 meter long musical drum which both of sides covered with animal skin. Dhepadhol is very similar kind of Jaidhol. But dhepadhol is differing from other drums with a special feature. Right side of dhepadhol covered with double layered and outer layer of this drum has a small whole. Player fills water from this whole and packed it. When a drummer plays it from sticks, it causes for melodious and differ type of tones.

Due to this musical instrument of dhepadhol a tribal folk dance named as dhepa dhuliya dance. There is another key feature of this folk dance of tribal Orissa. During this dance performance all dancers prepare with magical colorful cloths and accessories. Women also wear red, blue and green grown for participating in Dhepa dhuliya dance. In tribal regions of Orissa it is a beautiful feature of community weddings. Tribal people like to enjoy a marriage ceremony with Dhepa dhuliya dance. They also perform it on festivals and other joyous occasions.
