Dhimsa Folk Dance In India

Andhra Pradesh is a fourth largest state of India in geographical area and fifth biggest populated state of India. The capital of this state named Hyderabad is a very popular name of India within cities.

Religious Dance DhimsaAndhra Pradesh is one of the most traditional and cultures state. There are various tribes and traditional casts living with their energetic and adventures culture. Thus, this state is commonly known for its folk dances and folk music too. Dhimsa dance is one of those folk cultures of Andhra Pradesh.

Dhimsa dance is the dance of various tribes of Andhra Pradesh living here like Khond, Bagata, Valmiki and Kotia tribes. These tribes are living in Araku Valley of district Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. During the performance of Dhimsa dance both male and female person can participate.

Dhimsa dance organizes in the month of Chaitra of Hindu Calendar that is march/April months. This dance performed by above mentioned tribes on various festivals and weeding ceremonies. The main feature of Dhimsa dance is that dancers of various tribe visit to one village to another village to participate there folk festival.

It is a chain link among those tribes and it is also known as a inter friendship moment of those tribes and villages. Dimsa dance can categorized among various fabulous dance like Kunda Dhimsa, Boda Dhimsa, Goddi Beta Dimsa, Gunduri Dhimsa, Baya Dhimsa and Tola Dhimsa, ,.

Gunduri dhimsa dance is a very charming dance in which male dancers participate with peacock feathers and invites female to participate with them. While Goddi Beta dance has a unique feature that in this dance performance dancer moves both backward and forward with the swinging of body. Boda Dhimsa dance involves worship of their ritual goodness or god in villages. And Pottar Tola Dhimsa dance is famous for picking of leaves during the dance performance. Natikari Dhimsa and Bhag Dhimsa are also a part of this Dhimsa folk dance of Andhra Pradesh.

During the performance of those various types of Dhimsa dances need some unique verities of musical instruments like Dappu, Tudumu, Mori, Kiridi and Jodukommulu. In Dhisma dance form of Andhra Pradesh both male and female dancers participated with a high range of colorful and different dresses of cloths. Dhimsa dance is also famous on the occasion of Diwali festival in Andhra Pradesh. Those expert dancers make this festival something especial for this state. There is also a unique style of this dance performance by Porja Caste. This is specially performed by female dancers. They dance for the happy marriage life by worshipping to lord.

All of above showed us that it is a great form of Andhra Pradesh’s dancing culture and tradition to understand about this state and to differentiate to other states of India.
