Dhol is a very famous or most useable musical instrument of our country India. It is widely uses throughout the country. Especially in the state of Punjab and especially in Sikh community hardly uses the drum on various festivals and any other occasions. It is most popular instrument of Punjabi music. In ancient time Sikh used drums on the war time to celebrate their victory over other forces or enemy and later they uses for their successful wins in other fields.
Drums are not only famous in Punjab region but also it has an important role in various regions and various religion of India. It has an important part of Rajasthan region and various communities or tribes too. In Rajasthan state Dhol plays very important part on various folk musical ceremonies and dances. It is a most common instrument of villages to perform folk occasions. It made by goat skin and it beaten by a woodier stick or hands to create a musical rhythm. Dhol is a big form of drums and there is a smaller one named Dholak. There is another type of drum named Ektara which mostly uses in devotional musical programs.
Drum dance in Rajasthan is a famous dance which based on the playing of drums. Dancer moves with the rhythm of drums beaten by sticks. Drum is also known as a name of Nagara and also useful on various ceremonies and occasion like garba, bihu dance, marriage party, fairs and festivals etc. Mostly drum is a male musical instrument but now days it also played by female also. Rani Taj is a most famous female drummer in all around the world.
