Dholak

India is the country of religious knowledge and religious facts of life. It is the country of people who believe on their religious thoughts more than the other parts of life. It is the country of tribes and Bihar is one of the states which are known for its ritual communities. Those people from different tribes followed always their ritual folk programs and traditions. They organize their cultures and tradition with their folk music and folk dances. All of these folk dances and folk music are can not be performed without using the musical instruments.

Folk instrument Dholak of Bihar is one of the major folk musical instruments which are the part of various folk dances and music of various folk tribes of Bihar. Dholak is two sides wooden made instrument which need not an expertise to play, it can be play by an ordinary person during the performance. It is beaten by the hands of player or sticks to generate musical sound.

Dholak is most famous musical instrument of this state during such magical dances like jhumar dance and Jat jatin dance. Vidyapati songs of Bihar are the sign of this melodious music from and it is also sung with the rhythm of Dholak. Chhau dance of Bihar is also performed with rhythm of this musical instrument.
